A 37-year Rapid City taekwondo school's site, rebuilt to put real credentials and a real belt system front and center.
Buckingham's ATA Martial Arts has taught Taekwondo in Rapid City since 1989, led by two ATA-certified black belt instructors with decades of combined teaching, community, and public-service experience. The site had to make that credibility, the studio's real belt-progression class structure across very different age groups, and local discoverability all work together — not just another studio template with a schedule bolted on.

The challenge
A martial arts studio's site has to build trust fast — a parent choosing a program for a young child, or an adult considering it for themselves — while clearly organizing a real belt-progression class structure across very different age groups (Pre-K Tigers through adult black belts) that a generic "gym schedule" template doesn't fit. Credentials matter more here than at most local businesses: both instructors hold ATA-certified black belt rank and decades of combined teaching and community service, and the site needed to make that visible without turning into a wall of biography text. And since most people search generically — "karate for kids Rapid City," "taekwondo near me" — the site had to be found locally by exactly those searches.
The approach
We built the site around the studio's real, belt-based class system — separating Tigers (Pre-K and K–1st grade), kids' Taekwondo, and teens & adults by actual skill level and belt rank rather than a generic age-based grid — paired with clear instructor credentials (ATA certification, rank, years teaching) so trust is established immediately, not buried on an About page. Local technical and natural SEO were built around how families in Rapid City actually search for kids' martial arts and self-defense instruction.
- Class structure organized by real belt progression and age group (Tigers, kids' Taekwondo, teens & adults) instead of a generic class-grid template
- Instructor credentials made visible up front — ATA certification, black belt rank, years teaching — establishing trust immediately
- A clear, low-friction path to the studio's free-trial-class offer for a parent or adult considering a first visit
- Local technical and natural SEO built around how families actually search for kids' martial arts and self-defense instruction in Rapid City
- Site built to support the studio's community programs (anti-bullying seminars, self-defense seminars for groups) alongside its core class offering
